PNG Optimization tool for OS X ImageOptim
In a post IE6 world, the PNG reins as king of image formats, it supports transparency, alpha channels, and near lossless image quality, However all of these awesome qualities come at a price in filesize. Even though broadband is more and more wide spread there is also an emerging mobile market to be aware of, or perhaps if you have a high traffic site, your own bandwidth costs could be an issue.

I just ran a quick test, I exported my logo as a PNG with full transparency out of photoshop, it was weighed in at an acceptable 20k, I then ran it through ImageOptim, it shrunk it down to 16k. Ok sure, nothing to write home about, but consider this, there was no quality lost and I shaved 4k off of just one image.. imagine if you optimized all your PNGs and JPG images? Oh did I forget to mention? this works on JPG's too :-)
